About the team

APAC Payments TechOps is a team based in Singapore. Our charter is to improve the health and resilience of our payment acquiring volume, making it easier for Stripe to build and operate the integrations that support hundreds of billions of dollars in payments annually. Our team partners closely with payments and platform engineering teams to assess systems or processes that create high operational workloads, then develops durable solutions via code, tooling, data, and process improvements. We are responsible for the financial data quality of key systems at Stripe, ensuring that data is quarantined without impacting downstream systems while implementing the right changes upstream to prevent recurring issues.

What you'll do

As a company, we believe in end-to-end ownership of projects. For any given project, we have one person on point. While they don't necessarily have to do all the work themselves, it's their job to make sure all the work gets done. We launch betas and prototypes as early as we can. This helps ensure that we're building what users actually want.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with peer engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to execute complex technical projects.
• Give meaningful feedback on code reviews and technical designs.
• Ensure that the systems your team operates continue running well and can scale to meet the needs of our users.
• Build the skills to own a project, and eventually an entire domain, from beginning to end, learning project management and technical leadership skills.
• Learn quickly by asking great questions, working with your intern manager and teammates effectively, communicating the status of your work clearly, and building with the latest AI tooling.

Minimum requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a directly related field, obtained by summer 2027, or equivalent work experience with no more than 18 months of professional experience (excluding internship).
• Experience and familiarity with programming, either through side projects or classwork. We work mostly in Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go. We believe new programming languages can be learned if the fundamentals and general knowledge are present.
• Experience from either previous internships or working collaboratively on multi-person coding projects (in a university or professional setting).
• Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and form an understanding of those systems, through independent research and working with a mentor or subject matter experts.
• Clear written communication skills, with the ability to explain your work to stakeholders, team members, and other Stripes.
• Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate development while applying rigorous critical thinking and professional judgement to review, refine, and validate all outputs.

Preferred qualifications

• One or more areas of specialized knowledge (frontend, backend, infrastructure or other technologies) balanced with general skills and knowledge. 
• Experience in code review practices, and an understanding of how to safely update production systems.
• Familiarity with navigating and managing work in large code bases.
• Experience leading small projects independently, and contributing to larger projects alongside peers.
• Ability to operate with high agency in navigating complex technical obstacles independently, knowing precisely when to unblock oneself and when to ask for help.
