What you’ll do

Stripe is seeking a People Operations Specialist, HR Compliance to join our Global People Operations team. This role is a critical pillar of our People Operations function, focusing on complex operational challenges and continuous improvement across the employee lifecycle. You will serve as a critical operational stakeholder enabling HR transformation by ensuring seamless support, optimizing processes with data-driven insights, and collaborating closely with our Centers of Excellence (COEs).

Responsibilities

• Audits and controls Management: Own Global People Operations participation in recurring compliance audits including SOX, HR security controls, and external audits. Coordinate evidence gathering, manage timelines, and serve as the People Operations point of contact for audit teams across multiple concurrent cycles.
• Process Optimization and Data-Driven Improvement: Bring innovative, data-driven ideas and recommend enhancements to existing HR processes and workflows. Interpret data and formulate insights to proactively drive continuous operational improvements that enhance the overall employee experience.
• Regulatory filing management:Track and execute Stripe's recurring compliance filings as required. Maintain filing calendars and monitor global regulatory changes.
• Stakeholder and COE Partnership: Work closely with cross-functional teams and Centers of Excellence (COEs), including Procurement, Employment Legal, and Employee Relations, to ensure cross-functional compliance obligations are met, processes align, and smooth handoffs occur across the organization.
• HRIS Management and Integrity: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of our HR Information System (Workday) by accurately entering employee change transactions manually and through bulk data uploads, ensuring a robust and reliable foundation for all HR data.
• SOP Development and Documentation: Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that document workflows from end to end, encompassing all system interactions and cross-functional handoffs for clarity and efficiency.
• Vendor management: Manage compliance vendor relationships — background check providers, labor law poster services, employment verification platforms — including contract renewals, SLA oversight, and service transitions.
• Navigating Ambiguity: Operate effectively in ambiguous situations using your expertise, Stripe’s operating principles, and stakeholder perspectives to determine the best course of action and communicate clearly about systemic blockers.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Operations, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in HR compliance, People Operations, or employment law support, with direct ownership of compliance obligations
• Knowledge of HR processes, policies, and best practices across the employee lifecycle.
• Experience managing or supporting external audits, including evidence gathering and cross-functional coordination.
• Technical aptitude and proficiency with Workday (specifically data accuracy and management) and experience with Salesforce or a similar ticketing system.
• Working knowledge of US employment compliance requirements: I-9/E-Verify, EEO-1 filing, state pay equity reporting, labor law posting requirements
• Experience driving operational improvements and contributing to significant program delivery.
• Proven experience collaborating effectively with COEs (e.g., Legal, ER, People Partners) to resolve complex employee issues.
• Written and verbal English communication skills including translating regulatory requirements into plain-language SOPs and stakeholder updates
• Collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Data fluency with the ability to interpret data and formulate insights to drive improvements and measure program success.
• AI fluency, including the ability to use AI tools effectively, assess output quality, and recognize when human review or escalation is required.
• Experience with SOX controls, internal audit processes, or global compliance frameworks
• Vendor management experience.
• Familiarity with international employment compliance — GDPR/ROPA, Right to Work checks outside the US, or EMEA/APAC regulatory requirements.
• Experience building or improving global HR compliance program infrastructure.
