  • Your deep curiosity about systems and graphics tech will drive you to quickly ramp up on wgpu and its internals.
  • You thrive on solving novel, complex bugs like validation corners and fuzz findings.
  • Your need for independence aligns well with a contract role that offers focused tasks and minimal oversight.
  • You enjoy writing thorough tests and investigating weird failures, which is a core part of the job.
  • Your tendency to get lost in analysis might make it hard to stick to the prioritized task list and meet deadlines.

The role

You will help the Firefox WebGPU team clear its backlog of correctness and security bugs in wgpu, Firefox’s WebGPU implementation, so WebGPU can ship on Linux and Android. You will take on well-defined, prioritized issues, land fixes upstream in the open-source wgpu project and in Gecko, and free the core team to focus on the remaining release-blocking work.
