About Mistral Mistral provides full-stack AI solutions: from frontier models to developer tools, applications, and compute. We partner with enterprises tackling the hardest problems—across high-stakes industries like finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector—co-creating customized AI systems that they can run on their terms. We are a dynamic, collaborative team passionate about AI and its potential to transform society. Our diverse workforce thrives in competitive environments and is committed to driving innovation. Our teams are distributed between Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. We are creative, low-ego and team-spirited. The Role As an Applied AI Engineer, your mission is to make Mistral AI-native from the inside. You lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI systems in rapid cycles, building the iconic use case for multiple department (eg: GTM, HR, Engineering, Finance, ect) in your portfolio. You sit where product, engineering and the business overlap, turning advanced technology into real-world solutions that move a metric. You translate complex, often ambiguous business requirements into engineered solutions that work at scale. You act as the technical lead for your departments and contribute as an Individual contributor you guide the technical choices, build the solution end to end, drive adoption, and keep improving it. Your goal is to build clients trust, and deliver high ROI solutions, not a hit-and-run POC. What You Will Do Run discovery with department heads and key users, map their workflows, and turn ambiguous needs into a prioritized use-case backlog with clear expected value. Deliver end to end: design and ship production-grade full-stack apps (Python/FastAPI, React) and AI systems, from scoping through deployment and adoption. Encode business rules, KPIs and ROI metrics as durable datalake assets and app logic, so your departments run on trustworthy, observable data. Dogfood the latest Mistral products as a first internal user, and turn what you learn into credible product feedback that shapes the roadmap. Own architecture for your surface: keep it scalable, secure and observable, with a high bar on clean code. Spot patterns across departments and lift one-off solutions into reusable building blocks. What We're Looking For At least 3 years building and deploying production AI software. Strong full-stack engineer: Python/TypeScript, scalable backends (FastAPI/Node), and enough frontend (React/Vue) to ship a usable app yourself. Hands-on with modern GenAI use cases: RAG, agents, workflows, orchestration and evaluation. Strong command of vibe-coding tools, paired with genuine care for clean code and architecture: speed without slop. Strong ownership and a bias for delivery. This is made for high-velocity engineers who already have experience. Fluent in AI-native tools (Slack, Linear, etc.). Passionate about solving customer problems. Here, your customers are Mistral's own teams. Excellent communication in fluent English: you can explain a technical idea to a lawyer, a marketer and a staff engineer in the same afternoon. Nice to have Exposure to Legal, Public Affairs, Marketing or Compute/Infra domains, or a track record of getting fluent in an unfamiliar domain fast. Data engineering or analytics experience (warehouse modeling, dbt, dashboards). Contributions to open-source projects, especially around LLMs. A builder's instinct for internal tooling and platform reuse.
